Why people are voting for Nancy McCurrach...

"Nancy is a strong, reliable and consistent advocate for fairness. She stands up and speaks up when she sees a need, and she keeps her finger on the pulse of those needs with her active volunteerism in the community. Nancy is a role model when it comes to her extensive service in the community and residents can be sure she will bring that proven commitment to the council table."

Councillor Bonita Zarrillo - City of Coquitlam

My good friend Nancy Goodman Mccurrach has been a tireless volunteer and advocate in the community for as long as I've known her!

Amy Anne Lubik

“For many years, Nancy has been a pillar of support for the causes that are dear to her heart.  She cares about her community and spends many hours working with organizations and individuals in order to make a difference in the lives of others in their communities.

Nancy has committed much of her personal time in her community by working to increase awareness on anti-bullying and mental health awareness.  She has created initiatives and fundraisers to benefit many local non-profit organizations, one being the Amanda Todd Legacy Society. She has continued the much needed conversations around #ChoosingKindness to stand up against bullying behaviours as well as talking about ending the stigma around mental illness.

Nancy’s leadership and fundraising efforts at her work site over the years has continued to support many organizations throughout the TriCities area. Nancy has been a positive leader and role model in her community and was awarded the Volunteer of the Year for 2017 in Port Coquitlam.  Nancy’s leadership, support and commitment to her community will be a welcome addition to Port Coquitlam City Council. I wish her success in her run during the upcoming election for City Councillor.”

“To Whom It May Concern:

I have known Nancy McCurrach for several years and, I want to share with you how impressed I am with her. She cares about Port Coquitlam and residents of all ages and abilities. I will never forget watching her at a City Council meeting when she delivered the first presentation to City Council on raising awareness for organ donations and the huge waiting lists currently in BC. The City of Port Coquitlam presented Nancy, on behalf of the BC Transplant Society, its first Proclamation declaring that the City support and recognize organ donations. Nancy is a remarkable and motivating person.

Nancy was honoured twice in 2017 with significant recognition for her dedication to our community; as Port Coquitlam's Volunteer of Year 2017 in the category of Caring and Safety; and with a prestigious International Community Champion Award known as The Jefferson Award for Outstanding Public Service as Founder of the Tri-City Refugee Welcome Wagon & for Community Volunteerism. As a volunteer for the City of Port Coquitlam in the Arts and Culture Program she has participated with Theatre Under the Stars, Music in the Park, Sunday Coffee Concerts, and also volunteered for Easter, May Day, Canada Day and Cultural Events.  Nancy has given her time with the Soroptimists of the Tri-Cities, and has volunteered at Warm Place, providing a monthly social event for women and children offering the opportunity for community, friendship and mentorship while guests shop for free for gently used clothes and household items.

Nancy is truly a dedicated and supportive Port Coquitlam volunteer immersed in her community.  We need someone like Nancy, and more female representation on Council in Port Coquitlam.”

“It is with great pleasure that I add my name to the list of those endorsing Nancy in her bid to run for Councillor for the City of Port Coquitlam.  Rarely have I met someone with the passion, enthusiasm and commitment to fight for what is right and just.  Nancy brings passion, intelligence and articulates her message extremely well.  Many talk about issues, Nancy gets up and acts.  I have had the pleasure of working alongside Nancy within the TWU-STT on issues to improve the lives of working Canadians.  We both worked as Executives on our respective Labour Councils on topics related to the labour movement.  Her community involvement includes; attending City Council meetings for over eight years, sitting member on committees, promotion of community sports as a Parks and Recreation volunteer.  Nancy has been involved in programs such as anti-bullying, organ donation, theatre arts and cultural events.

Knowing Nancy’s background, personality and work ethic, as well as the amount of work she has already accomplished, I have absolutely no hesitation in endorsing Nancy for the position of Councillor for the City of Port Coquitlam.  Nancy is prepared, ready and willing to work for the citizens of Port Coquitlam.”

It is with great pleasure that I fully support Nancy to represent the people of Port Coquitlam as a City Councillor.

Nancy is a member of my Soroptimist Club, and we’ve been members together for over 4 years. Nancy is one of the most enthusiastic, caring and compassionate individuals

I’ve ever had the pleasure of knowing. She is always the first one to volunteer for any task, and her love of our community and the people living here is inspiring. She truly makes the Tri-Cities a better place to live.

Nancy is an amazing supporter and hands on worker at our various programs.

Warm Place For Women is an example, where we provide a hot home cooked meal and a safe environment for women and children in need in our community. She is always there with a smile. Other programs such as the Walk a Mile, Wine Women and Sport, Give Her Wings Gala and Brunch, she has been fully committed to assisting with others in our Club that are dedicated to improving the lives of women and girls in the community be their best; by overcoming barriers and achieving their dreams.

All of these programs require special communication skills, and Nancy is always there to provide an ear and helping hands.

Nancy was instrumental in organizing and providing funds to start a Soroptimist Scholarship Award which will assist some of our new immigrants to Canada. Her passion and dedication are contagious, and being around her makes me want to

follow in her footsteps.

Nancy embraces every project and task with grace and humility…always truly caring for the needs of others. It’s an honour to know her and call her a friend. It is because of all these qualities I believe she would be an excellent City Councillor.

Sincerely yours,

Cindy Paddington
